Brierfield Soldier Missing

Lance-Corpl. William Sutcliffe, of 22, Ross-street, Brierfield, 1st class Army Scout, attached to the Lancashire Fusiliers, is reported missing by a friend in the same company, Corpl. Townsley, of Burnley. Formerly employed as a weaver by Messrs. Geo. Shaw, Ltd., manufacturers, of Brierfield, Lance-Corpl. Sutcliffe was a Sunday school worker in connection with the Baptist Church, and was also an active member of the Boy Scouts' organisation in connection with the Sunday school. He enlisted on September 7th, 1914 and went out twelve months later.
