Robert Wood and Esther Waterworth were married at Hill Lane Baptist on 4th Oct 1915.

Mel, I looked at the Burnley in the Great War website and there is no Robert Wood who survived WW1, but there was one who was killed 27/07/1916. I wonder if there is a connection.

Does the site have ALL survivors?
The CWGC doesn't give next of kin on that record does it.
It's a big possibility.

The site has most survivors (I believe), although I am not sure where the info has come from as many of the service records were destroyed during WW2 bombing raids.

I might contact Burnley library for this mans obituary as it will probably name members of his family. I won’t contact them this week though as they are getting annoyed with all my queries….
