MRS. M. THORNTON
The internment took place on Monday in the Haggate Burial Ground of Mrs. Merinda Thornton, of 18, Queen street, Harle Syke, whose death occurred last Thursday at her home following a short illness. In her eightieth year, she was one of the best-known and respected residents in the district, being born and having lived in the area all her life. She had been a member of the Haggate Baptist Chapel over 60 years, and was a Sunday school teacher in her younger years and member of the choir. Her husband died 10 years ago. She leaves three daughters and two sons. Another son was killed in the last war. Mr. W.F. Thornber took the service at the house and also at the graveside. J. Atkinson, Harle Syke, carried out the arrangements.
