Hi Mel
Alfred Bather was my 1st cousin twice removed.
His father was James Bather, and James' brother was William my great grandfather.
I have quite a lot of info on the Bathers and the Briercliffe branch if anyone is interested.
Does Susan Kerr have any connection with the Briercliffe Bathers?
Best regards for a Happy 2008

Hi Rob, I'm sure Susan will reply for herself but I think the Bathers were friends with her fathers family.
Happy 2008 to you too Rob.

Hi Mel and Rob;
Thanks for drawing my attention to this post, Mel....I did respond to Rob (Hi, Rob) and drew his attention to some Bather photos in the archives. My dad recollects Jack and Jimmy Bather......Rob mentions a James and William. Could be a different generation....or a faulty 91 year old memory, don't know which!

Thank you Mel--that's all good stuff for my files and gave me some info that I didn't have.
Ahh, my great great aunt Mary. She was born Mary Stuart, married Alfred Brierley in 1881, and after his death she married James Bather in 1899 (his 1st wife Louisa Mawson died in 1898).
Mary and James had an only child Mary Elizabeth Bather in 1901.
Mary Elizabeth married Willie Jones (a farmer) in 1922 and they had Frank, Wilfred, Harry, David and three daughters who all died very young.
I have been told that Harry Jones was cremated in Burnley Crematorium so maybe his ashes are buried at this site. Or maybe not.

Best wishes and many thanks
Rob

You have a date of death Rob, why not email Burnley cemetery and ask if he is buried there. They are really helpful. Their email address is bereavementservices@burnley.gov.uk

It could be that he just has a mention on the kerbstone, then again, his ashes might be there.

A good idea Mel, I'll do that and publish their answer.

Hi Mel
I just received a reply from Susan Wright of Burnley Crematorium who informed me that the ashes of both Harry and Beatrice were delivered to the funeral director of Helliwells Funeral Service--Harry's on 21 Oct. 2006 and Beatrice's on 5 Dec. 2006.
I have sent two emails to Helliwells (helliwells.funerals@virgin.net) requesting their help to locate the final resting place of the ashes but I got a bounceback both times.
I suppose the only thing I can do now is to send a snailmail to Helliwells and wait two months for their reply.

Do you have a web address for them Rob? Or other contact details? Send me a PM with your query for them and I'll see if I can get more joy for you from here.

So have I David. I'm wondering if it is something to do with Robs location.
There is a lady in Burnley who cannot receive my emails when I am in the UK but can when I am in France...despite the fact the the email address is the same. I'm guessing it must be something to do with the IP address or the server I connect through???
Also, a reply to me would be quicker....phone call even easier and both these can be relayed back to Rob with ease..
