I don't have a James Henry in the file Kris. I'll take a look at this when I get chance but it will probably be after my trip to France.

I have this family in the file but had no info for Sarah Ann after she left her parents. This ties into my own tree. I think that this Thomas Sutcliffe might have had a Leaver mum but I don't have a name for her and it is only think.

I think we have discussed this before Kris. In 1841, Thomas and his brother William are living at Banks in Briercliffe with a Leaver family. Obviously no relationship is shown.
In 1851 they are living with my Sutcliffes at Yeomans and are shown as grandsons.

1841
HO107/506/15 folio 8 pg 8
Banks, Briercliffe with Extwistle.

1851
HO107/2251 folio 131 pg 17
Yeomans

1891 they are in Burnley Road. Richard has changed occupation to be a clogger and shoemaker but then has reverted back to weaver by 1901. Didn't like making shoes?

Richard Whittaker, Head, Mar, 33yrs, Clogger and shoemaker, b. Briercliffe

Thanks, but where does James Henry Sutcliffe fit into all this? Perhaps he doesn’t

I have no idea. Unless he is a child of Sarah's brother - Willie or illegitimate of the sister, Mary.

I searched 1901 and didn't spot a possibility.

I'll order the certificate. I'm due a treat.
