By Robert Neill.

Bought through ebay for about £1.50, I started reading this last night. Seems a good read so far.

I love that book, I have read it loads of times and always enjoy it. I think it's because I can picture the places. Enjoy.

I have a huge problem at the moment - several new books that I have just not had time to read. Life is soo hard

Mum has borrowed my Pennine Childhood book so that can go lower in the pile. Not read BJ's Victorian novel yet either. This copy of Mist Over Pendle is 'well-thumbed', I always think that's far more appealing than a brand new off-the-shelf book.

Think I may put mine in my luggage, in case whatever I get at the airport is no good----that's only happened once. Once got Da vinci code, couldn't put it down.

I took Da Vince Code to Jamaica and finished it on the first day. Fantastic book! I have bought all of Dan Browns since then. A couple of them are very similar but still a good read. Waiting for his new one to come out in September.

We have recently come back from Portugal, we were staying in a lovely villa with it's own pool, and I actually read 5 books in a week, that is a record for me, luckily the villa had a bookcase with quite a good selection of novels, could'nt have taken 5 books in my luggage could I, so the bookcase was a very nice surprise. :)

I think it's fantastic how he (the author) created such an interesting tale around factual evidence. I assume the Margery bit is all fiction....

I believe Margery is fictional - but what a girl! A great way to tell the story.

Robert Neill wrote several other historical novels, and although I think Mist over Pendle is definitely the best of them, some at least of the others are worth reading if you come across them - they were available as cheap paperbacks in the 70s and can usually be found on ABEbooks. I particularly like Moon in Scorpio (which is set in London and West Lancs) and Black William (Northumberland coal, Hadrian's Wall and the exiled followers of Bonnie Prince Charlie). Rebel Heiress and Hangman's Cliff are very readable but not north-country!
