The more I think about it the more I think that Edmondson Row are the cottages at Haggate crossroads opposite the Sun Inn entrance on Burnley Road. The corner cottage on the crossroads was also a shop at one time owned by Joseph Edmondson and it also says in this link that he also owned 9 other properties at Haggate and on Burnley Road.

Mice playing..pleasantly surprised at the number of posts today...Mel has had a fab day in Wakefield. I have just knocked 5ft of a 6ft brick wall. My Heptonstall lot has just gone back by at least a generation. NOw at 1756 with some certainty and know I now have the possibility to go further through property records. Can't tell you how chuffed I am about it.

Portia - 2 trips were Society meetings, that leaves one to account for I think I know what that one was unless it's counted for with the funerals.

This Folley thing that started this topic - I had a look at the district description but it doesn't shed any light on it. The description says
"All that part of the Township of Briercliffe with Extwistle which comprises part of the ecclesiastical district of St James Briercliffe including Willow Green, Walshaw, Musty Halgh, Bend Hill, Coal Pit House, Tattersall Barn, Spring House, Jackwell House, Haggate House, Higher House, Haggate, Cockden, Banks, Lane Bottom and Hill End".

I also had a look on the maps we had from Roger last year. Nothing to help there either.

Other half didn't know of Folley Row, BUT, he thinks Edmondson Rw was the one next to the Hare and Hounds, BUT, he is known to be wrong occasionally
David, what is the name of the row on the right, at the end as you go down to Lanebottom?

Do you mean at the top of the hill opposite the old graveyard? If so am not sure that has a name now,just a Halifax Road address. If you mean at the bottom of the the hill that is Sparrable Row formerly Bank Street.

Formerly Sparrable Row isn't it. Haven't they given the original name back?

Well originally it was Sparrable Row,then Bank Street and they now changed it back to Sparrable Row.

No I mean the one at the top. And yes I think they have given Sparrable Row its name back.

Thanks David. Those must have had names in the past, would have thought there were 2 or 3 rows there at one time.
Next question in our little quiz---what is the name of the row between Corrin House and what was the corner shop?

Same answer today,Halifax Road. But in the distant past who knows.

I wonder if Roger has an old map of the Haggate Street names from that era.

I wonder if it would be on that Tithe map?
