Post subject:  Hammerton St, Burnley

Hi I am looking for anyone who knew of and knows about a chip shop that was on Hammerton St, Burnley in the late 1800s early 1900s. I have always been lead to believe that someone in my family i.e. Sagars owned a chip shop on that street. Is there anyway I could find out who lived at a certain number on Hammerton St in 1893? Any help would be great.

Hi Edna, try e-mailing Burnley library, they will be able to point you in the right direction if they don't know the answer.

The 1896 Burnley Trade Directory shows a J Sagar at 63 Hammerton Street trading as a fried fish dealer.
