"""I recently bought a book which needs rebinding. Before sending it for surgery, I took out of it the flyleaf which bears the undated signature of Robert Peel, Whittle-le-Woods. Robert was born at Whittle 1853/4, the eldest son of James Peel & Elizabeth nee Charnock.. His grandfather was also Robert, b at whittle 1798. The family lived at 1 Rock Villa Rd. It was a grocery shop, which Robert & his sister turned into grocery/drapery.There were siblings - Thomas, Hannah & Elizabeth, who married and lived next door to the shop.Robert was still alive, aged 57yrs, in 1911 The detective I employed to find this information reckons I wil be hard pressed to find any descendants. I am more optimistic. Would anyone like it?""" |

Me!!!! I have some Peels in my family tree as follows: James Peel born 1765 in Whittle le Woods m. Elizabeth Sidgewick 1766 Lancaster Son John Peel born 1806 in Whittle le Woods d. 1862 m. Mary Walmsley b. 1809 in Whittle le Woods d. 1859 Daughter Ellen Peel born 1838 in Whittle le Woods d. 1888 m. Enoch Bradshaw b. 1839 in Chorley Ellen Peel is my GGG Grandmother. So... Robert Peel isn't a direct descendent of mine, but I think his parents are my GGGGG Grandparents. The dates look a little out of line, but it has to be the same family.
