ps - just looked up Emma Bannister 1881 census. Certainly the age is right for her to be the Emma Leaver we're looking at.

Could it be JAmes, son of Betty Kippax, nee Leaver? (See 1881

Not sure if this is Rennie, the address of the second Will is nearly the same as the 1891 Census

1960 - LEAVER Rennie Stewart of 52 Burnley Road, Harle Syke near Burnley died 19 July 1960 at West Cornwall Hospital, Penzance. Administration Manchester 17 August to Olga Mary Leaver, widow. Effects £1,087 16s. 3d.

Ignore what I said (above) about Betty Kippax - her son was John not James. The James on the census was a lodger.
Those wills, Rennie Stewart was a different Rennie S Leaver, approx same age. He's already on your tree (son of James Leaver/ Margaret Jane Heap.)
1901 census, Rennie Stewart shows up as just Rennie. Rennis S on that census is Rennie Shea. Confusing or what?

It's a woman's prerogative to change her mind. I'm back to thinking the James we're looking for is the son of Betty Leaver who married James Kippax. (There's a thread about this somewhere but I can't find it )
We know Betty had 3 children before she was married. They're all on 1871 with her at Lane Bottom.

Now I have the marriage certificate I am content that the James in question is the illegitimate son on Betty Kippax (nee Leaver) The name, age and absence of a father's name from the marriage certificate are all consistent with this. I've posted details of the certificate under Marriages
