Hi all

This looks like a good spot to drop in & say Hello from Australia.
From the information I've been reading, I may have a few connections here, .
I started researching around January 2008, nothing seems to feed the 'Bug' like new information  .

I suppose I should start with the facts regarding one of my family lines.

On my mothers side;
William Walmsley.b. 1852. Newtown. NSW.Aust
{ Married }
Martha Ann Rushworth.b. 1855. Colne. Eng.
.d. 1914. Petersham. NSW. Aust
Martha Ann & William Walmsley. buried at Rookwood cemetary. NSW

Martha Ann's parents were Joshua Rushworth & Alice Rushworth (nee Simpson) ? for Simpson.

[ this is where things become a little fuzzy on facts. following information is from cross referencing, nothing certified yet ] ?

Joshua's parents. George Rushworth & Martha Rushworth. (nee Halstead )
Joshua, one of eight children.

George Rushworth. b. circa 1802. married in Barnoldswick.

George's father, William Rushworth, no more information or name of wife?

Martha Halstead's parents. John Halstead & Martha Kippax.
no more information re; John Halstead

Martha Kippax. parents John Kippax & Mary (nee Swinden ? )

John Kippax. parents. James Kippax & Susan Nutter.

I am trying to find proof before I become fixed on these lines.

Any pointers would be most welcome, as well as any questions.
Thanks
DanC

ps; questions regarding the air speed velocities of European birds, will take a little longer  .

Hi DanC,

I may be stating the obvious but have you actually clicked on the What's in a Name title, it is the first on the list, when you get there you will see a list of names that members are researching, there are some Kippax and Halsteads listed, perhaps if you PM them they may be able to help, or at least point you in the right direction.

Sorry I cant be of more assistance.
Stephanie.

Hi Danc, I have James Kippax and Susan Nutter. Have you looked at my Kippax family tree in the family tree section on the home page. I can go further back now, but it is by process of elimination and not 100% proven.

Hi & thank you for your reply Stephanie

I have limited experience with Genealogy research, as well being unfamiliar with this site and its Forums, I'm sure in time I will dispense with the compass.
I did see the other posts & relevant names, however, my intention when posting the information was to present my family line & the possible link rather than tag myself onto another family.
(which I have heard can be embarasing )
Just a 'Wave from across the Waves' so to speak  .

Hi Gloria

I guess from my Favorites, the link to this site which brings me directly to these Forums, is why I kept missing the Family Tree link, all sorted now.
I'll be heads down for a while I imagine, and suspect I will emerge with a bunch of questions.

Thanks Gloria

Hi & thanks Leaver

Those links will no doubt keep me busy for a while

Thanks all
DanC

DanC, I am in contact with a guy who I think is descended from your John Kippax. I know we share the James Kippax. Will have a look for you.

Gloria, you had better be careful, in Australia “a root” has a different meaning….

DanC, where in NSW do you live? I stayed in the Western suburbs of Sydney, near Blacktown.

DanC, I have a few issues with the images on the site at the moment. Hopefully it won't affect you, but my apologies if it does. i am working to rectify this, most images are now OK but there are still some that are not.

Welcome to the site!!

Thanks Gloria

I thought you were going to search for relatives, not create more. .

Leaver
I'm near the suburb of Balmain, about 5 min in the car to the centre of Sydney City.

Which reminds me, I have a link somewhere to some search results for the names of Kippax, Halstead etc, I'm going on memory atm, but I recall Balmain cemetary having some of these names, it may have been NSW bdm where I found them, I'll make a note to check on that.

Hi Mel
No probs about the images.

Thanks DanC,
I went on the site and found this site which I am sure will be of use to someone, even though it is not related to Briercliffe.,
