:( I am completely stuck with one bit of my family tree. John Wilfred Eastwood died in Dec. 1955 age 76.

The name on the death cert. was of his eldest son Benjamin who was born 1907.
Benjamins address was given as 61 Kenilworth Ave, Prestwich?

No idea what he was doing there and there seem to be a lot of families in that area that he could have been related to.
He may have been married to Alice Maud?

I have found the record of his parents grave, with 3 infant brothers at Burnley Cemetry, how do I trace Benjamin? Do I have to go to Manchester Library? :?:

Have you found him in the 1911 Census?

There were two Benjamin Eastwood’s born in 1906. One at Sheffield and one at Burnley.

I suspect the Benjamin Eastwood who died, 1985 is the same person who was registered in December 1906 at Burnley.

:roll: How do you find these things :?: :?: This one who died in Blackpool/ Fylde, sounds like the right one, the registers for a death cert. appear to be shared between Preston and Blackpool? They have said I need to know if it was in Blackpool? in order to find him.
Yes I checked the 1911 census and he was living at home then in Burnley.

I did a search on Ancestry and the death came up.

Next time I go to the Probate office I will see if I can find a Will. If there is a Will it will list his address, place of death and any executors.

:D Many thanks, this will answer a lot of questions if he had retired there, also surprise a branch of the family who have lived there since Benjamin's aunt moved there with her husband in about the mid 30's. They will be surprised if they have kin living nearby, happy? who knows but definately surprised.

:? Hi to willfinder, I have tried to order a copy of the death cert. for Benjamin Eastwood but with no luck. Blackpool have no record of him there and Preston can only look for it if I can get a home address as he may have lived on the outskirts of Blackpool. Will await your info. eagerly.

Hannah, where are you contacting for the certificate? Is it the regional record office?

You might have more success if you go to the General Register Office and give them the entire reference including volume and page. They should definitely have it there!

Thanks Mel, unfortunately that website suddenly crashed, so back to regional office who had allready had complaints about the website, a very helpful girl took the details you gave me and am waiting for a phone call to say they still can't find him, or maybe I'll be lucky :lol:

Hi Hannah, I couldn’t find a Will for either Benjamin or Rennie. For Ben I looked at the years 1985-1989 and for Rennie I looked from 1982-1985.

This is the only Benjamin Eastwood I could find.

1984 – EASTWOOD Benjamin of Homelands Kings Road West End Sy, died 22 January 1978. Administration Winchester, 27 January. £32,100

:roll: Help, again. I confidently said I knew the d.o b. of Benjamin Eastwood, but!! I have just realised that I only had his age from census.

The death cert. for the man in Blackpool has arrived, it gives 21st Sept. 1906 in Burnley. Can anyone access info. that will confirm my £7 was spent on the right man?
Mine was on the electrol roll living at 36 Frazer st with his parents. He appeared on the electors list in 1928.
In 1933, there was an Alice Maud there as well, then he appears to have moved.

As I said before, there were only two Benjamin Eastwood’s born, 1906, so this must be your man if he was born at Burnley.
