Do these buildings still exist, and if so, where are they located?

Old Sparrow Hawk Inn

Old Yorkshire Hotel

Hall Inn (St. James’ street)

Also, is Finsley Gate just a street, or is this an area of Burnley?

The Sparrow Hawk Hotel at the bottom of Ormerod Road is now stood where The Old Sparrow Hawk Inn used to be, that photo is as it was before it was demolished for the present one, it stood in it's day at the top o' the town, which was the centre of Burnley at one time (opposite St Peters Church).

Old Yorkshire Hotel is not there anymore, cant remember it at all, not a watering hole in my time I dont think.

Finsleygate is an area off Manchester Road.

Hall Inn on St James Street is not standing now either.

This is as much as I know unless someone else can elaborate further.

According to 'The Book' (Barrett's 1914)

Yorkshire Hotel - 34 Yorkshire Street. This is now were the roundabout is at the bottom of Centenary Way.

Hall Inn - 2 Church Street. Same as above

The Old Sparrow Hawk became the New Sparrow Hawk - 82 Church Street

Thanks Stephanie and Patricia.

Patricia, does “the book” mention the photographers, J. Crossland and J. Wilkinson, and if so, does it mention the first name? I suspect it is James or John, but I am trying to find them in the census.

The Yorkshire Hotel was where the Keirby now is.

Looked under all photographic references no mention of Crossland or Wilkinson. Also no mention in the alphabetical names list.

Okay, thanks, Patricia. As far as I know, these photographers were around from circa 1880-1900 but I was wondering if they could still be found in 1914.

The Keirby was built in the late 50's, it was classed as a sky scraper at the time.
