Am trying to ascertain if a Wilkinson Heap born 1802 is a member of "my clan". His death certificate shows that he was a pensioner in the Royal Horse Guards at the time of death and that the informant was an Edward Nutter, (that could be Edmund Nutter) present at the death, address Haggate, Briercliffe. Does anybody know of a potential link between these two persons ? I have found an Edward Nutter b1809 on the 1851 Census, from Dark Street, Briercliffe, occupation Cotton Twister, Wife Agnes, Children Sarah, Moses, Aaron and Ellen which might be the correct Edward Nutter. My G G Grandfather is Edmund Nutter, but he is a farmer of Bent Head farm, Haggate. He had a son called Wilkinson Nutter. I just wondered if there might be a connection, as I don't think Wilkinson is very commonly used as a Given Name. He was probably named after his Mother's father, Wilkinson Riley. Maggie, Many thanks for that. From my research it appears that the forename Wilkinson might be more common than you think, I have three Wilkinson Heaps and a Wilkinson Holt and have seen examples of others on my trawls through the censuses. The Wilkinson I was interested in came out of the Army and went to live with his brother a farmer at Cockden but died in 1850 and is buried at Hill Lane Chapel. I would have thought that his brother might have been the informant of his death hence the post about Edward/Edmund Nutter. For interest I have a Mary Nutter born 1840, daughter of a William. |
