| Post subject: | Andrew Currie (c. 1869-1919) - HELP! |
Hi, I need help! I am researching a friend’s family tree and I am stuck. Andrew CURRIE (c. 1869-1919) married Edith Mary LARK (c. 1877-1941), and they had at least two children, Alfred Henry CURRIE (1909-1993) and Albert Henry CURRIE (1911). My friends is under the impression that Andrew CURRIE was American, but I found him in both the 1901 and 1911 census, and he is English. 1901 Census - RG13; Piece: 233; Folio: 51; Page: 26 23 Bonn street, Hackney, London Andrew Currie, Head, Mar, 33yrs, Photographer, Worker, b. Yorks, Leeds Georgina Currie, Wife, Mar, 35yrs, b. Suffolk, ? 1911, Andrew is living at Birmingham with his wife, Edith Currie and son, Alfred. Andrew’s occupation is photographer, his birth is listed as London, and he has been married 5 years. I cannot find Andrew CURRIE before 1901, and I cannot find a marriage for Andrew Currie and Georgina UNKNOWN, or Andrew Currie and Edith Mary Lark. Any ideas. |

I can see several options for Andrew Currie in 1891, the birthplace could differ on the earlier census. Like you though, no marriages |

There is this marriage Sep 1904 Currie Andrew Birmingham 6d 262 but no bride to match your details. It could be that her surname has not yet been transcribed for that particular section? |

There are a few Andrew Currie’s from Scotland, but none from the right part of England. I am wondering if he lived in the US during this period, but this wouldn’t explain why I cannot find him in the 1871/81 census. Also, the shipping records have a Scottish Andrew Currie going to New York, but I cannot find an English Andrew Currie making the same voyage. The marriage should be around 1905/06 so maybe that is him. |
