I am told Monk Holme was located at Briercliffe, but I cannot find a mention of it in books or on the internet. Was it nearby to Monk Hall? http://www.briercliffesociety.co.uk/Pho ... 0Holme.htm

It was down Robinson Lane, off Colne Rd in Reedley.

I should know, I was born there !!!! It was a 'Nursing Home' in 1944, what we would call at least a little later a 'Maternity Home'.

Was it just before the railway bridge, there's a canal bridge as well isn't there?

Over the railway bridge, then past Reedley Nurseries and over the canal bridge and you are there. It is listed as Nelson in those days :( :( :( :(
I don't care, I'm Burnley born and support the Clarets, they moved the boundries,I'm sure the wing of the house I was born in was just in Burnley.

I too was born at Monk Holme. My birth certificate states that it is in Reedley Hallows but my sister's certificate says Brierfield.

Does anyone have a photo of the now-demolished Monkholme Nursing Home?
An elderly ancestor died there in 1940.
