The Widdop road from the M65/Brierfield/Nelson area used to directly access Widdop, Scout Crag, Gorple etc. will be closed from mid-Sept. for 3 months while Lancs. County Council carry out vital repairs. This is the tiny road which leaves Briercliffe and passes Widdop reservoir and the Packhorse Inn towards Heptonstall. The starting point for many walks. There was a landslip about 18 months ago when most of the road disappeared down the hillside. This will cause a very long detour for anyone planning to go walking, climbing or mountain biking if visiting the area in those months. |

I've just come back from Widdop. The road closure sign has gone and has been replaced with a new one. "This road will be closed 28th July 9.00 - 16.00 hours." |
