What the blue blazes is going on? All of a sudden the search 'form' I'm gettng is nothing like I want. No space for date of birth, just countries lived in/ dates between. It's driving me nuts. And keeps coming back with no results and an invitation to start a new tree.

www.ancestry.co.uk have a free 14day trial where you can search parish records back to 1538. I have found one of mine in 1719 at St Bartholomews so there might be something useful for those living in Briercliffe.

Thanks Gloria

I can't access the trial. Probably because I still have a subscription? Never mind, my subs runs out in 2 weeks and I am not renewing. (Unless they give me a very good 'come-back' offer)

I still have a subscription to it as well, I did a search for one of mine which it brought up, but to see any more I needed to take out the free offer-----I didn't do that, probably the same thing would have happened as happened to you.

I've done it! I've cancelled my subscription (though it doesn't actually expire until the 9th).

I feel liberated

Time to check out the competition and decide who gets my money

Mine has got until November to run, I got it for half price so it isn't too bad. Let me know who you find is best.

Hi Kris, I was helping Joan who has posted on the Surname Interests thread. I couldn't get anywhere with it, so tried looking for one of my own who lived "down Cockden" in the 1841 census, I have the census printed off. I thought if I could get in the area I could walk about so to speak.
The one I have in Cockden is James Brierley head 45yrs weaver, it is mistranscribed as Briearley, he is living with his sister Betty, his wife Martha and their five children.
I did a normal search using each one seperately but couldn't find them. I have always found them before.
