To get this offer simply enter the page number of TheGenealogist's review. I think this was in the January magazine. Will ask mother in law to check it.

Marriage records go online at The Genealogist

The details of millions of people married in England during the 20th century have been added to a major online collection.

The newly digitised marriage transcripts, available at www.the genealogist.co.uk, span more than 50 years between 1930 and 1983 and bring the website’s set of such records to more than 55 million.

Not very impressed with The Genealogist today. I had a weekend of research planned but it seems their census search function is not working as it should. I get a white page with '#' in the top left corner.

I emailed them and got the response 'emails only checked Monday to Friday office hours'.

I phoned them and got an answerphone.

I have left a message on their Facebook page as well as their own forum. This is where I discovered that it is not just me who has this problem. There has been no response from anyone involved with The Genealogist website as yet and my first contact was at 8am. The first forum message from someone else re: this was left last night.

Do companies not realise the importance of good customer service these days? You can't run a site that people pay good money for and forget about it for a whole weekend!

It appears to be working again now  though there has been no contact from anyone to say that it is.

Just looking at the subs and costs etc. Don't think I will be renewing - they are more expensive than Ancestry now! And with a search function that is nowhere near as good.

Are they more expensive now??? I got my sub a while back as I thought Ancestry was getting too expensive. I honestly don't think it is as good as Ancestry and certainly not as easy to use.

I think I read that is £145 per year for the diamond subscription. Not much point having a lower one now as they are doing like Ancestry and adding the new stuff to the Diamond and not hte lower ones.
Ancestry's middle option just became value for money! Who'd have thought it!!
