1911 census on Ancestry is to begin to be available later this year and continue into 2011

It will also be available on The Genealogist website around the same time I believe. I guess it coincides with the official release? It might also explain the huge hike in subscription price for The Genealogist. I wonder if Ancestry will raise their prices? Do I take out a sub with them now before they do? That said, I won't be paying separately for the 1911 if it is available within a sub somewhere will I

Hi
I have a subscription with Ancestry and recently emailed them asking about the 1911 census and any increased subscription charges. This is the reply they sent:
We appreciate your message.

Ancestry is committed to launching new historical record collections online for our members, and also selected collections perhaps already available elsewhere which our members have expressed a strong interest in accessing on our site. In the coming months, our current plan is to launch onsite the 1911 Census Enumerator Books, which we are confident will be of terrific use to members, helping them to cross-track their ancestors through censuses, telephone book, military records etc during the early part of the 20th century. However, we do not currently have an estimated date for the release of the complete 1911 UK Census.

If there is anything else with which we might assist you, please let us know.

Note they do not answer the charges query.
Margaret

Genes Reunited has also created a 'platinum' member to outrank the 'gold' member. One now needs to subscribe to the more expensive platinum in order to get 1911 access :(

Until 9th January findmypast have slashed the number of credits required to view pages from the 1911 England & Wales census. I don't know how many credits it would normally cost or how many it is under this offer. I read it here...
