Dirving me nuts today for the same reason. It's been a bit iffy all week - I've been trying to go through 1851 for BRiercliffe a page at a time and after about 6 pages it just freezes up.

I've had success for most of the day, it's the last hour that it's gone mad. I did wonder if they had placed some kind of restriction as I have looked at so much today.
Looks like I'll have to do some work :(

Have a nice weekend

Thanks Margaret, it's working here too...for now. It's annoying when you consider what we pay for the use of the site.

Well now that I have 'customised' it and got rid of all the bumf that they litter the site with, it doesn't look any different than it used to

I don't like the 'New Ancestry Search' on the census pages. I sometimes like to go directly to a piece (if I know the number) and the options in the new search criteria omit piece, folio & page though they do give schedule and registration (& sub registration) district.

I've just been given a years Ancestry sub for Xmas by various family members, but am now thinking the money might have been better saved for the 1911 census ...can't have my cake and eat it...

I would think 1911 would come on Ancestry quite quickly, the 1901 seemed to----or was I dreaming???? It's a bit much as you say, it's mostly the grandparents thing and the majority know about those.

Is it me? or is the new Ancestry a pain in the bum. I want to search the censuses and I used to be able to do that easily, either by going to the list including Scotland and Wales, or doing the drop down from the census year box. I cannot find a list of them now, only 1901 and 1841.
I am finding it very frustating. For the past few weeks there has been a link to the old way of searching, that is the only way I can make any sense out of it.

Isn't the new format optional (so far at least)? When I go to http://www.ancestry.co.uk/ I get the old search page with all the censuses listed below the search boxes. Am I missing something, or am I just lucky?

Just lucky Charon.
When I log on I get the new page and it's murder to get around. There is a small link to the old search pages. I suppose to keep that in they have forecast problems.
It is nowhere near as user friendly.

Gloria,

have you tried the link in my message above? it works for me (but who knows what the internet will do next?). Have a go, anyway.
