Gotcha. I thought that was our Esther in 1881, but it wasn’t, that is why I posted the 1871 census. Maybe it will be useful to someone else.

John Leaver’s age varies according the census (1793/1801). If he was born 1801, then William Leaver (1783-1836), son of John Leaver (1746-1817) and Jane Simpson (1746-1820) is a possible candidate.

In 1895 Thomas Leaver, whose father was the tenant of Extwistle Hall Farm in the 1820's and 1830's, was interviewed by the The Burnley Gazette. He recalled that his father went regularly to Burnley Market with dairy produce.

This would be John Leaver 1794-1871. If I'm not mistaken I think Kris looked for it when he was up last.

Morning. I have this article, but it is rather long and I haven’t copied it yet. Maybe I will do it this weekend.

I think I partly solved the mystery of the Leaver grave my sister-in-law told me was at Cliviger.
We have James Leaver 1710-1755, buried at St John the Divine, Worsthorne. However, St John the Divine is at Cliviger. Also, St John the Evangelist at Worsthorne didn't open until the mid 19th century.
I think the original information came from Peter?

I think that is something to do with him.
There is an article in Aprils Who Do You Think You Are mag about him. I haven't read it yet but the name Lever caught my eye as I flicked through.
I'm wary of quoting the article for the usual reasons but one line says "called many things in his time - ....Lord Leverhulme of Bolton le Moors; Viscount Leverhulme of the Western Isles."

He founded Lever Brothers - makes of Sunlight Soap

There are quite a few Levers’ from the Bolton area, and there is a Little Lever too.

There is Kris, you are right. We are going to Leverhulme Park on sunday, our son is running a 10K. I have been there in the past to showjump. A guy I jumped a horse for played football for Bolton, and he said they used to train there-----another useless bit of info. It's a big area.

FARRIER AT KING’S RACING STABLES
Mr. Abraham Leaver, formerly a blacksmith at Fence, has been appointed a farrier to the King’s Racing Stables for the present flat-racing season.
Son of the late Mr. Abraham Leaver, he took over his father’s business as a blacksmith. Nine years ago he left the district to become senior farrier to a racing stable in the South of England. Until recently he was with Mr. T. Templeman, the well-known Lambourne trainer.
He is a grandson of the late Mr. Richard Cooke, of Higham. He and his wife, formerly Miss Wilkinson, of Queen Victoria road, Burnley, live at Lambourne. A brother, Mr. Harry Leaver, is an engineer at Fir Trees Mill, Higham.
Mr. Leaver, who served with a mounted regiment during the war, paid a visit to Burnley earlier this month.

ART STUDENT’S BRILLIANT CAREER.
The success of Mr. Noel S. Leaver in securing the diploma of the Royal College of Art, South Kensington, has brought him the congratulations of many Burnley people.
Mr. N. S. Leaver, A.R.C.A., who is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gray Leaver, of Simonstone, was educated at the Widnes Secondary School and Burnley Grammar School, afterwards being engaged by Messrs. Proctor and Proctor, accountants. Following two years in accountancy practice he became designer to Messrs. Alex Drew & Sons, Ltd., Lowerhouse, where he gained considerable experience in the practical side of cotton printing.
A student of the Burnley School of Art under Mr. W. M. Whitehead, A.R.C.A., he passed the Board of Education examination in cotton printing, Part 1 and Part 2 industrial design. Proceeding to the Manchester School of Art in 1932 he made a continued study of industrial design, and was awarded the first prize given by the Textile Institute for printed textiles, and received the diploma of the Furnishing Trades Organisation for designs for carpets.
Mr. Leaver entered the Royal College of Art three years ago, having served under Sir William Rothestein and Professor P. E. Jowett, A.R.C.A., and making specialised studies in cotton printing, stained glass, etching, metal work, pottery, mosaic and general commercial art. He attended the London County Council School of Arts and Crafts for weaving under Professor Taylor, and was appointed student demonstrator in charge of cotton printing in the Royal College of Art. He also completed the course of pedagogy under the L.C.C. and was twice awarded the free studentship of the Royal College of Art.
Many examples of this artist’s work have been exhibited, notably in the Federation of British Industries Exhibition, 1935-1936; L.C.C. art in industry exhibitions, 1936; Heals, Tottenham Court-road, 1934; Newcastle School of Art, 1936, and the Royal College of Art exhibition, 1936.
Mr. Noel S. Leaver, A.R.C.A., follows his uncle, Mr. Noel H. Leaver, A.R.C.A., the noted water colour artist, in having secured this distinction.

RETIRES AFTER 48 YEARS SERVICE
MR. HARRY LEAVER, who has retired after 48 years service with the electricity undertaking was on Wednesday the recipient of a gift – a vacuum cleaner – from his Burnley colleagues.
Mr. Leaver commenced with Messrs. Batty and Calverley, in Burnley, and then went to Cleveland and District Power Co. Thirty-eight years ago he obtained a post with the Burnley Corporation Electricity Department, and after various promotions he was Deputy Engineer at Vesting Day. He was appointed Burnley District Engineer for the Area Board in December, 1948.
The sports and social club organised the presentation, which was made by Mr. W. Blythe, Station Superintendent for the B.E.A, and attended by all sections of employees in the Burnley district.
Our photograph shows the presentation being made to Mr. Leaver by Mr. Blythe. Others on the picture are (from left): Messers. J. E. Parkinson (secretary, sports club): S. Stott (senior clerk), J. Drake (social club president), W. E. Masters (Consumers Engineer), J. Sunderland (Assistant Engineer) and A. Baker (social club chairman).

According to my notes, Clarissa Leaver (1893-1957) was the daughter of James Leaver (1857-1930) and Ellen Unknown (1852-1914). Clarissa married Haydn Barker (1891-1953) at Burnley, 1916. They had one child, James Alwyn Barker (1916-1990).
