Gillyh and Patricia, when you have time, can you please do a lookup in your Burnley directory for the following?

Fruiterer Westwood, Nelson
C. Beck, Fruit seller (Possibly Burnley)
John Buckley, Potato Dealer (Possibly Burnley)

Hi,
There are no listings for C Beck or John Buckley as fruit or potatoe dealers on the 1895.1905 or 1924 Kelly's Directories. There are no listings for either of these names in the local area in the residential address

Thanks, Gilly. I bought two postcards over the weekend, and both are close-ups, one being of a man selling vegetables standing in front of a basket which says ‘C. Beck’ and the other is of a man with his horse and cart, which clearly says ‘John Buckley, potato dealer’. The backgrounds look like local Burnley stone buildings, but perhaps they were taken in a town nearby. I will have to investigate.
