I have got the following info from another family history group and thought it would be of interest to us---------
What can and what cannot be entered on a certificate are governed by law,
and do change with time. The answers to this type of question are to be
found in Barbara Dixon's web-site

Barbara is/was a Registrar with a strong interest in family history and has
written clear explanations of what can and what cannot be entered on Birth,
Marriage, or Death certificates. Barbara writes in a manner that is easily
read and understood - not in convoluted legalese.
