Women Unionists' Whist Drive
On Wednesday evening at Graves' Cafe, a successful whist drive was held by the women Unionists. The prizes were won as follow - Ladies: 1, Mrs. holgate; 2, Mrs Leaver. Gents: 1, Mrs. H. Halstead; 2, Mrs. F. Atkinson.
Whist Drive
A whist drive promoted by the Briercliffe St. James's Social Club was held in the National School on Tuesday evening. The prize winners were - Ladies: 1, Grace Hargreaves; 2, Mrs. W. holgate; 3, Mrs. E. Atkinson. Gents: 1, Miss M. Sutcliffe; 2, Ben Stuttard; 3, Miss E. Stuttard.
Tennyson Street Brotherhood
On Monday evening, at Tennyson-street, a meeting was held with a view to forming a brotherhood. Officers were selected, the Rev. W.O. Pugh being elected president. Solod were rendered by Messrs. Benson, Nutter and Atkinson. A short address on the aims of the brotherhood was given by th president followed by a discussion. It was resolved to hold the meetings on Monday evening after the Band of Hope.
Women's Guild
The first meeting in the New Year of the Women's Guild was held on Wednesday in the Co-op news room under the presidency of Mrs. Tilley. A good gathering of children assembled, this being a special night for children. Various items were rendered by Misses Hird, Nutter, Hartley, Duerden and Master J. Lee. Gramophone selections were also given. Apples, oranges and chocolate were afterwards distributed.
