Foot And Mouth Disease
John Coates was summoned for permitting this disease to exist uknown to the inspector. -P.C. Gregson stated that on the 2nd instant he visited the defendant's farm, called Broadbank Farm, in Briercliffe, and there saw two cows suffering from the disease. -Mr. Polding, veterinary surgeon, visited the farm and saw the two cows, both of which were suffering from the foot and mouth disease. The defendant said he was away from the farm, and that was the reason they were not reported to the police. -The full penalty was £20. Fined £5, including the costs, or one month's imprisonment.
