Craigslist scam - http://craigslistscammer.blogspot.com/2 ... nding.html

Ironically, the scammer claims to be from Burnley....and London - according to the two emails my Mum received from this guy.

Maybe it isn’t used up your way, but people in London certainly use it for jobs and housing etc. It’s like Gumtree.com

My Mum is renting out a flat and two people with similar scams responded to the ad

Perhaps some of the forum members from Canada, USA and Australia are familiar with Craigslist.

I'm not in the housing or jobs market so I'd have no need to be aware really. (Not heard of gumtree either but did google it to find out what it is!)

I always associate Gum tree's with Australia. It's the staple food of the Koala bear.

If you were to rent your house in France you could advertise it on Craigslist. http://montpellier.en.craigslist.org/

I suspect www.gumtree.com was started by Australian's. London is full of them!

Gumtree.com was started in March 2000 as a local London classified ads and community site, designed to connect people who were either planning to move, or had just arrived in the city, and needed help getting started with accommodation, employment and meeting new people.
