I've just placed an order with Badger Books for the abo0ve title. It caught my eye a while back and then I forgot about it. My memory was jogged when I changed the home page at the weekend. http://www.badger-books.co.uk/index2.htm

There are two interesting things come up on ebay that I have just seen, someone may be interested.

1. Briercliffe Arch - A mounted print with free p+p
2. An extremely rare Briercliffe Infant School 1901 Good Attendance Card - For Lizzie Halstead.

Stephanie.

The picture has been on and off for some time Stephanie.

For Lizzie Halstead, see here viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1501
A nice bit of memorabilia for someone. I wonder who is selling it and how they came to have it?

This is quite an interesting article relating to Worsthorne.

In the process of Gloria. I had a migraine towards the end of last week which wiped me out for a couple of days. Just as the book was delivered...typical.

It's not a thick book though it is very interesting. I find myself reading a section and then when I check the references quoted, I re-read the section again to understand fully what was said, not every section but most of them. I find some of the references as interesting as the book itself and wander off to google for more info. I think it is a book that I will pop in and out of often, like Rogers book.

For the sake of £9.99, I'd say it's well worth it though before paying out I'd suggest checking out Ken Spencer's book on Tattersall Wilkinson if you can get it. I've not seen Ken Spencer's book but it is mentioned and Ken does provide the foreword. I'm not sure how different they are. It's next on my list.

It's arrived. And I have also borrowed the book by Ken Spencer from M-in-L.
Page 20 from Owd Tats book shows a pic of Brownside Farm, some people we knew had that in the 70's, may still do. They ran a riding school there. Very old place.

Have been to Burnley this morning and bought the Memories of W and D from Badger Books. I also got Bennetts History of Burnley IV, I have the others but none have an index except this. I really expected an old book shop with lots of second hand books to rummage through, not at all what I thought it would be like.
Afterwards took a diversion to M-in-Laws in Haggate via Worsthorne and Roggerham, Extwistle Hall looked very bleak and cold.

There is a stall in Burnley Market Hall that sells just old books, could spend ages in there browsing, it is one of the stalls around the inside, it has little nooks and crannies and it is stuffed full of second hand books.

Stephanie.
