A Pennine Childhood - Ernest Dewhurst

I've just managed to get myself a copy of this book through ebay and paid less than £7 inc. P&P. Hope it arrives!

I looked for it elsewhere before I bid as I hadn't heard of it. Badger books have not stock but list it at £12.99. Bargain

Mel, a friend sent me this book. It's lovely, a fascinating account of Ernest Dewhurst's life, mostly on a farm in the 1930s and later. There are many photographs, both of his family and of people and places in the area, the countryside near Nelson. Ernest Dewhurst grew up to be a newspaper reporter.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Joan

It does sound very appealing Joan. A real account of life in the area in years gone by. Hopefully it will be on my doormat when I get back to the UK :D

I'll get it from the library, it could be my holiday read.
