Ben Brierley and Edwin Waugh are two of the 'holy trinity' of Lancashire dialect writers, the third being Samuel Laycock.

I am downsizing my book collection, so somewhat reluctantly I'd like to sell my copies of their books.

The Brierley ones are the 'standard' edition, collected works, nine small volumes, dark blue covers. One has a signed acknowledgment note from Brierley, pasted in. all in good to very good condition. £45, plus postage if need be.

The Waugh ones are also in the 'standard' collected works edition ('autographed' on front cover), eight volumes, dark blue covers. Condition varies a bit, quite well 'used', but nothing missing or loose etc. £30, plus postage if need be.

I live in East Anglia, but go up to the Burnley area now and then, so delivery might be possible if buyer lives in the area.

I'm also putting this on the 'Dialect' page.

First refusal then to those who scan this site !

Rex

Just renewing this offer, with a third off (I need space desperately !), so £30 for the Brierley books, £20 for the Waugh ones. See previous post re delivery comments.

You would probably pay a lot more on ebay....................., and I'd like them to go to a loving home (sounds like kittens !)

Now sold, thanks for your help Gloria.

I have some more in this downsizing project.

Briefly I have some (modern) Lancs Parish Register volumes, and also early editions of Roby's Traditions of Lancashire, including First edition, these being quite sumptuous.

Do contact me for detail.I

Well Rex - really nice to meet you yesterday, and I'm very happy with the books. Quite remarkable really - the link from this Burnley Forum via the Oneguyfrombarlick site, with the help of some wonderful members - and then to find we live only about ten miles apart near Cambridge.
Thanks to all concerned Gloria, and Mel(teaser) as was. :)
