My grandmother was the daughter of John Brierley and Catherine (Stanworth) Brierley. I do not remember my grandmother. I have only two photos of the Brierley side of my father's family, and one is not a very good one. I am interested in seeing what the Brierleys looked like. My father had no living siblings so there are no cousins on that side of his family. If what I recall is correct, Dad had three cousins, but apparently all were bachelors, so I am not expecting any photos of John, Catherine or any of their four daughters. But some images of any distant relatives would be interesting. This site has a fascinating collection of pictures. Some Brierley photos would be a nice addition because I might not be the only one out there who would like to see some.

Hi Christine, the only way we will be able to get some Brierley photos on the site is if people submit them for inclusion.

I'm happy to add pictures that are submitted (as long as the subject matter is appropriate). Send me a pm and I will send details of where to send the pictures. Thanks.

Hi Christine,
have you seen my Brierley tree on the home page under family trees. I also have Stanworths, so we must have a connection somewhere---Do you have any more info on them, dates etc?

Peter Leaver (1862-1935) and Elizabeth Brierley (1861-1936) had five children, and we have photos of two of them.

Gray Leaver (1884-1952) http://www.briercliffesociety.co.uk/Sol ... Leaver.htm

Noel Harry Leaver (1889-1951) http://www.briercliffesociety.co.uk/Pho ... Leaver.htm

Elizabeth Brierley was born at Worsthorne, so I don’t know if she connects to your line.

We also have a photo of James Stanworth (1870-1941) http://www.briercliffesociety.co.uk/Pho ... nworth.htm

Thanks to all who replied.
Elizabeth Brierley was married to my grandfather, Robert Foster. As far as I know she was born in Briercliffe.
And I have seen that Brierley family tree. John(1857-1921) was William Brierley's older brother. Catherine was the daughter of Benjamin Stanworth.
I'm just looking for photos.

I have a Catherine Stanworth (1857-?) who was the daughter of Benjamin Stanworth (1828-?). Catherine had a younger Brother, Adam Stanworth (1860-?), and he married Elizabeth Leaver (1860-1906). Peter Leaver Stanworth (1892-1944) was the child of Adam and Elizabeth.

Do these people tie into your research?

Yes. She did. In fact in my notes, Elizabeth Leaver is mentioned.

Your Benjamin Stanworth, I think was the son of James Stanworth. Benjamin was born 19th June 1827 at Holden, Extwistle. Am I right in this?

Benjamin Stanworth was, I believe, the son of Jennet (Nicholl) and Joseph Stanworth. According to my information he was born Jan 6, 1828. There have been a few claims he was born in 1826. I'm not sure where he was born, perhaps at Wall Nook.

I have a connection with the Benjamin Stanworth, son of Joseph Stanworth and Jennet Nichol. I'm descended from their first child, Mary, Benjamin's eldest sister. In my notes I've written, "According to the Haggate Baptist Register, Benjamin was born on 6 Jan 1826, at Wallnook." I think this was a transcription from Craig Thornber's site because I haven't a copy of the Register.

Benjamin married Ann Heap in 1848 and he died on 27 Sep 1885.

The trouble with the Stanworth family, as with most Briercliffe families, is that they kept names in the family, hence lots of families with same named children----nightmare.

From my experience I think that could be said of most families all over the country. Talk about headache :?
