Oswaldtwistle lancashire is the place, any info would be appreciated.
I have a Betty Reddyhoff (1835) and John Catlow who had a baby called Mary A Catlow (1857)
I am looking for info on Betty's or John Catlows parents, as i have the rest. But hitting a dead end here.

Thanks

Hi,

There is this marriage for a John Catlow with a Betty Reddyhoff on the same page, might be worth sending for the cert and then you would have their father's names
Name: John Catlow
Year of Registration: 1856
Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
District: Haslingden
County: Lancashire
Volume: 8e
Page: 175

And more----in 1861 census he was born Haslingden and a blacksmith. This is the 1851 census and John Catlow is a blacksmith born Haslingden. They are living at Musbury which is a parish in Haslingden. So now you have his parents--hopefully. Double checking with the marriage cert would probably prove it.
Name Age
William Catlow 45
Mary Catlow 45
John Catlow 18
William Catlow 14
Mary Houghton 81
Mary Houghton is down as mother-in-law and a widow, so you now have John's mother's maiden name.

You are very welcome. When I started this a lot of very helpful people helped me and I like to do the same.
This is the same family in 1841 living in Haslingden---William is a farmer.
Name Age
William Catlow 30
Mary Catlow 35
John Catlow 5
William Catlow 4

Thank you so much Gloria, I have just found that out about the farmer, I always wondered why John Catlow was a Blacksmith, so thats how it came about his family were farmers.

So nice of you to help, I do appreciate all your time, just need to find husband now of Mary Houghton who was also farmer.

Wendy, the only Mary Houghton I can find about her age in the 1841 is living with a James Houghton aged 45yrs, ag lab. They are living in Great Marsden which is now Nelson. Mary is given as a farmer, so that is looking quite likely. Sorry no husband for her.
There are two deaths for male Houghton registered Burnley between 1837 and 1841
John Houghton Jan 1839
James Houghton Jan 1840
James could possibly be the logical one as the name passes down. The best way would be to get the death cert to see who was the informant----hopefully it would say Mary--wife.

Hi Gloria, I found that one with james Houghton at 45 wondering if it was her son?? I will indeed look into James Houghton that died 1840, that would explain a bit.
Thanks again for all your help much appreciated, your a star :D
