Whilst searching the 1891 Census for Waddington, I came across these Widows Alms Houses.
The ladies were born in the surrounding areas of: Slaidburn, Newton, Preston, Grindleton etc. etc.
This page is well worth a look if you have lost a Widow from your Family Tree.

You see posh areas had almshouses and where my lot came from only ever seemed to have workhouses
The almshouses I've seen all look to be really nice - from the outside.
