Taken from LFHHS yahoo forum, well worth a look-----
Whilst searching the 1891 Census for Waddington, I came across these Widows Alms Houses.
The ladies were born in the surrounding areas of: Slaidburn, Newton, Preston, Grindleton etc. etc.
This page is well worth a look if you have lost a Widow from your Family Tree.

You see posh areas had almshouses and where my lot came from only ever seemed to have workhouses :(
The almshouses I've seen all look to be really nice - from the outside.
