There are also Banks in the Isle of Man besides Corrins.

Good work Sherlock Gloria. We may be onto something at last! I've looked through a list of photographers (referred to as artists) no Corrins or Banks. That doesn't matter though. They may have been on holiday, an engagement possibly connecting two families. Lots of photographers and artists listed at the time.

It may have been a special thing to have your names and the place you lived printed on the photograph for a marriage or an engagement. Posh and Becks of the time.

I think you could be right Pollyanna, at least until someone comes up with something more conclusive.
I am pretty sure if the setting had been in a Briercliffe studio then we would have seen it before on other pics, and I am sure Roger would have heard of it.

I guess we need to find out if there are any pictures out there labelled 'Crrin and Banks'.

Yes, that's the family but it's a bit of a mystery.
There were 5 sons, Samuel Wilberforce, Thomas Wilson, John Keble, William Phillip & Stephen Keble.
John died aged 2, so it wasn't him. Samuel was a joiner and by 1901 (aged 40) was living in Barrow-in-Furness so it probably wasn't him.
That leaves Thomas, William & Stephen.
In 1891 Thomas was a warehouseman living in Briercliffe, then I lose him till he dies in South Africa 1922.
1901 William was a blacksmith in Briercliffe.
1891 Stephen was only 11. I lose him after that till he dies in 1960.
I think Roger's right about it being one of this family - they're the only Corrins in Briercliffe and it's a Manx name.
But which one? Anyway I'd say we're looking at late 1800s but most likely early 1900s.
Still looking.

Is this the info from Burnley photographic society Maureen?

Idid, but they couldn't help.

I spoke to the librarian today but she couldn't help. She looked through trade directories for 1840-1940 but could find no Corrin and Banks. Also in another one for 1897-1902. There are 2 or 3 more directories she said we could try but it doesn't sound hopeful.

Has anyone noticed on the pic of Old Tat on the home page, the wood in front of his door, under his left arm? It looks very similar to the wood structure on the left of the photo re Corrin and Banks.

I opened two windows and put them side by side. I don’t think they are the same though.

Has anyone noticed the dog on the right hand side of the photo?

It's a blooming big dog, could it be a wolfhound do you think? I thought it was a feather cape or something, then I spotted it's legs.

Stephanie.
